Skiing and SnowboardingThe Barn is right next to the Super Morzine bubble Morzine has an unbelievable 650km of pistes, linking 12 resorts in France and Switzerland including Chatel and Champery. Known as the Portes du Soleil, it is the largest international ski area in the world. With breathtaking scenery and unlimited kilometres, from beginners to advanced, from skiers to snowboarders, Morzine is a winter paradise. We will help you pre book your ski passes and purchase them for you, so that they are ready for you on your arrival. For your equipment hire we use a mobile ski shop – a van which comes to the door of the chalet on your arrival, taking all the hassle out of renting your equipment. Bliss! BeginnersNursery slopes and green runs are nearby, and The Barn will arrange lessons for you. BASSWe work in conjunction with the British Ski School in Morzine, called BASS Morzine. They have all British instructors and lovely small class sizes ensuring a good teacher pupil ratio. Lessons book out very quickly so make sure you book up as soon as possible. Visit their website on www.britishskischool.com. E2SAWe also recommend E2SA International ski school. They ensure extremely high standards of teaching, have several English instructors and teach only in small groups (max 10) but at a reasonable price. They will soon have you skiing confidently down the beautiful wide runs of Morzine and Les Gets. For information on prices and classes, please contact us directly. IntermediatesUnlimited skiing that you will never get tired of. Three days a week, The Barn’s ski guide will take those who can confidently ski or board a red run. They will guide you around the resort, take you to the best snow, avoid the queues and give you the most fun. When possible, join The Barn’s ski guide on an exhausting days 65km circuit of the Porte du Soleil where you never do the same run twice. Please note that the guiding is a free service and in no way constitutes or makes up for having lessons. We highly recommend that anyone who thinks they would profit from lessons take them, as this is the best way to get the most out of your holiday. For early intermediates we recommend group lessons with E2SA as above. FREEDOM2SKIFor more advanced skiers we highly recommend booking one or two private sessions with Pete from Freedom2ski. From brushing up your on piste technique to mastering moguls and skiing off piste, Pete gives you clear and invaluable advice. He’ll take you that step further with your skiing ability and you’ll soon impress both yourself and your mates with your new skills and style. Pete gets booked up well in advance, so contact him asap through his website www.freedom2ski.com AdvancedThe advanced skier and boarder will find plenty of challenges in the Portes de Soleil, with the world cup downhill run, numerous mogul and black runs and extensive off piste including James Bond Gully. Try facing The Wall, the infamous near vertical slope that leads from France to Switzerland. SnowboardersThere are several specific areas for boarders with boarder cross, half pipes and a “micro park” where younger snowboarders can practice jumps in safety. Avoriaz has reportedly the best snowparks in Europe, and a new super park just over in Switzerland is truly superb. Enjoy! For lessons we recommend E2SA, (see the beginners ski section). |
